|Mr. Ryan Atwood,
6th Grade Assistant Principal
Greetings students, parents and community members, I hope you had a restful summer and are eager for the school year to begin. I am eager to begin my third year at Deerfield Beach Middle School. I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan where I attended Grand Valley State University. Prior to Deerfield Beach Middle, I spent seven years at Millennium Middle School where I taught Language Arts, served as Behavior Specialist, Athletic Director and countless other roles. I bring to DBMS, a data-driven approach to education where students and teachers continually track assessment data to guide instruction.I am excited to work with the staff this year to help make our student achievement soar and earn an “A” grade. The Florida Standards have been designed to increase rigor in the classroom and challenge our students cognitively. Our IB Magnet Program is one of the top programs in the county and we offer a variety of athletic teams, clubs and programs that provide students with additional opportunities to get involved. Parents, I encourage you to join the PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student Association) and SAC (School Advisory Council) this year! Meetings will be held in the Media Center the third Wednesday of every month, beginning in September. I look forward to a great year here at DBMS. Please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or email if you have any questions or concerns.
Mr. Shedrick Dukes,
Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year. I am very excited to be the 7th grade administrator at Deerfield Beach Middle and a part of Junior Buck Pride! I’ve been blessed to live in Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, North Florida, Germany and England as an Air Force “brat”. Throughout my educational career I’ve served as a substitute, paraprofessional, primary and elementary teacher, middle school counselor and now my 5th year in Administration.
We have fully unwrapped the Florida Standards and will continue to actively engage students in a wealth of authentic learning experiences within the International Baccalaureate World School philosophy. In addition, we are placing stronger emphasis on developing students who can use collaborative learning and accountable talk techniques in order to grow a deeper understanding of the subject area content. This is a part of our commitment to providing more rigorous college and career readiness activities.
I challenge you to get involved! You can take an active part in PTSA, School Advisory Council or volunteer to support our extracurricular activities. We know that true success in education is a result of the active involvement of our community and stakeholders. Please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone or email with any concerns or for further information about our school.
